George Baker Obituary

George “Tom” Baker, 82 of Cambridge, passed away on April 20, 2024, at Southeastern Medical Center in Cambridge, Ohio.

He was born on December 16, 1941, in Evansville, Indiana, the son of the late Thomas Deweese Baker and Hazel Bell (Chinn) Baker. Tom was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1958-1960, and a member of the Moose Lodge of Cambridge. He worked in the oil field for many years and then as a Teamster for over 20 years, working for Baker Trucking and other trucking companies. Tom loved fast cars and living life to the fullest.

George is survived by his son, Hyatt (Wendi) Baker; daughter, Amanda (Brian) Mayle; sisters, Ruthy and Peggy; grandchildren, Makenzie Baker, Harrison Baker, Shyane Bullard, Hannah Stark, and Cheyene Mayle, Grandson’s Lakota Mayle, and Caullier Taylor; great-grandchildren, Jazmine and Joseph Stark; special friend, Lloyd “Bubba” Wylie. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Susie (Neff) Baker; previous wife, Shirley (McCall) Baker; son, George “Buck” Baker Jr.; daughter, Tommie Evelyn.

No calling hours or services will be held at this time. Per the family's wishes, a dignified cremation will take place.
