Michael H. Ponchak, 67, of Stockport, OH passed away Thursday, April 18th at Marietta Memorial Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.
Mike was born on July 4th, 1956 to the late Andy and Jean Ponchak. He was a graduate of Fort Frye High School and a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 389 in Beverly. Mike was a truck driver by trade, and prior to that he had worked at Malta Windows. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, and target shooting and golfing with his grandson Evan.
Mike is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda K (Abrams) Ponchak, three sons, Chad (Angie) Ponchak, Aric Ponchak and Wayne Moler. Grandchildren Evan Moler, Natalie, Camera, Mckenna, Gaibe, Cira, and Gavin Ponchak, great Grandson, Ledger, two sisters Mary (Jim) Phillips and Susan (Charles) Whipkey, four sisters-in-law, Carol (Bud) Burkhart, Jackie Buckius, Sarah Vincent and Charlotte Ponchak, four brothers-in-law, Arthur (Edna), Henry, and Randy (Linda) Abrams and Bill Hunter, along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by 3 brothers, George Ronnie and Donnie Ponchak, a sister Shirley (Kent) Place, sisters-in-law Clara Hunter, Joyce Abrams and Barb (Donnie) Gohring, as well as father and mother-in-law Henry and Kathryn Abrams.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Thursday, May 2nd at the American Legion in Beverly from 5-7.
